Subhas C Gupta, MD, CM, PhD, FRCSC, FACS
Dr Gupta possesses a unique set of skills as the Chairman of the Department of Plastic Surgery. He believes his first responsibility is to care for and educate each of his patients. He has brought a broad surgical expertise and international clinical experience to the Inland Empire. After graduating from McGill University School of Medicine in Montreal, Canada, Dr. Gupta spent nearly a decade in post-graduate training completing residency training and fellowships:
- General Surgery (McGill University)
- Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (McGill University)
- Hand and Microsurgery (University of Nevada)
- Aesthetic and Laser Surgery (McGill University)
- Patient Safety Officer Training (Insitute for Healthcare Improvement)
He has also undertaken additional training in aesthetic surgery, cosmetic skin care, anti-aging medicine, nutrition, and exercise physiology. He is board certified in plastic surgery by the Royal College of Surgeons of Canada and is a member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons and several other national groups. His clinical expertise includes:
- aesthetic surgery focusing on facial rejuvenation and breast and body contouring
- technology-enhanced surgery such as endoscopic, laser, and ultrasound methods
- Secondary Plastic Surgery - "un-plasties" and revisions
- skin resurfacing including laser surgery and chemical peels
- surgery of the hand
- surgical and non-surgical wound and scar care
Surgeon, educator, and researcher
Dr Gupta holds a PhD in medical informatics with expertise and active research projects in Internet-based health-care delivery, virtual reality in surgery, and technology assessment. He has been well recognized for his contributions to research in cosmetic surgery, minimally invasive techniques, laser surgery, scar control, informatics, outcomes assessment, and wound healing with funded fellowships, research grants, and paper/presentation awards from numerous specialty and national societies. He has published over 50 scientific articles and serves on several scientific review and editorial boards. His current research projects deal with ultrasound-assisted liposuction, minimally invasive facial rejuvenation, scar-less healing, and advanced technologies in wound care. Dr Gupta is available to see patients from throughout Southern California for consultation in both Riverside and Loma Linda.
